Search for office furniture manufacturers in Delhi and every result will describe in-house production, quality control and a skilled team. The words are close to identical across sites that operate in completely different ways, which means the words are not the filter. Evidence is.
This is not an argument that trading suppliers are dishonest. A dealer with good workshop relationships can be exactly right for some orders. It is an argument that you should know which one you are buying from, because the two models behave differently when a unit needs replacing in year three, and the difference is invisible at quotation stage.
Below are five things to ask for, what a good answer looks like, and what a weak one actually means.
Claims Are Free. Evidence Is Not.
The useful question is not "do you manufacture?" Almost everyone will say yes. The useful questions are the ones that are awkward to answer loosely: where, by whom, using what, and show me.
The claim | Evidence to ask for | What a weak answer sounds like |
|---|---|---|
We manufacture in-house | Factory address, and an invitation to visit | A city name with no address, or a visit deferred indefinitely |
We have done work like yours | Photographs of a delivered project, with the scope described | Catalogue renders, or images that appear across several websites |
Our quality is premium | A named board and thickness, edge band, hardware brand and series | Adjectives without specifications |
We install with our own team | Whether installers are on payroll or engaged per job | "We have a team" without saying whose team |
We stand behind the product | The legal entity name issuing the warranty, matching the invoice | A duration with no named company against it |
Evidence One: A Factory You Can Actually Locate
Ask for the manufacturing address, not the office address, and ask whether you can visit. A manufacturer will give you a location and usually welcome the visit, because a factory visit closes more orders than a brochure does.
If a visit is genuinely impractical for your timeline, ask for a short video walkthrough showing the cutting and edge-banding operation with your enquiry reference visible, or ask which of their live projects you could see. The point is not to audit the plant. It is to establish that there is one, and that the company you are paying has access to it.
Reedify manufactures at a 12,000 sq ft factory at Plot No. 15, I.E. New HSIIDC, Kutana, Hissar Road, Rohtak 124001, operating since 2017, and the setup is described on our Rohtak factory page. Delhi is served from there directly, roughly 70 km from the centre of the city.
Evidence Two: A Portfolio Read Properly
A portfolio is easy to assemble and hard to fake in detail, so read it for detail rather than for volume.
Does the image show a complete installed floor, or one styled unit against a plain background?
Is the scope described, or just captioned with a product name?
Do the same photographs appear on other companies' websites?
Is there anything at your scale, or only large showpiece projects?
Are there installation-stage images, which are much harder to source from stock libraries?
Reedify's delivered work is shown in the Reedify portfolio, which is worth reading for scope detail rather than volume.
Evidence Three: A Specification, Not an Adjective
This is the single most revealing request, and it takes one line in an email: send me the specification sheet you would produce for my order.
What should come back is the board material and thickness in millimetres for worktops and panels separately, the edge band material and thickness, the hardware brand and series, the finish name and code, partition material and height, and unit sizes in millimetres. A supplier who manufactures can produce that in a day, because it is what their own factory works from. A supplier who does not usually cannot, because the specification lives with a workshop they have not spoken to yet.
The full version of this exercise, including a table you can send to three bidders at once, is set out in the guide on comparing manufacturer quotes in Noida; the method transfers directly to Delhi.
Evidence Four: The Sample Is the Real Interview
Nothing on a website survives contact with a physical unit. Where a sample or a live installation can be seen, check these in order and photograph each one:
Press down on the middle of the unsupported worktop span and watch for deflection
Run a fingernail along the front, back and underside edges to check the banding is on all four
Open a drawer fully and close it from half open, and ask for the channel brand
Lock and unlock the pedestal twice
Look at the corner joint for a tight line with no filler
Push the unit laterally at one corner and see how much it racks
Crouch and look at the underside of the worktop, which should be finished rather than raw board
None of this requires expertise. It requires doing the same seven things at every shortlisted supplier so you have a comparison instead of an impression.
Evidence Five: Responsibilities in Writing
A shortlist based on product quality alone misses the part that costs money later. Before you rank the bidders, get these confirmed on the quotation:
Who measures the site, and who carries the cost if a unit does not fit
Whether the drawing is approved by you before production starts
Who moves the furniture from the loading bay to your floor
Whether installers are employees or engaged per project
Days allowed for closing snags after handover
The legal entity issuing the warranty, and whether it matches the invoice name
Whether the specification will be recorded for a future extension order
The last point matters more in Delhi than people expect, because offices here grow in a stop-start way and a second order placed eighteen months later against an unrecorded specification will not match. How those responsibilities split between a manufacturer and a trading supplier is set out in detail in the guide on who owns design, installation and warranty.
The Questions That Tell You Nothing
Some questions feel diligent and produce no information, because every supplier has the same answer ready.
Asking how many years they have been in business establishes longevity, not manufacturing. Asking whether they use good quality material invites the word yes. Asking whether they can handle your size of project invites the same. Asking for their best price before the scope is fixed simply tells them which corner to cut.
Replace each of those with something specific. How many years is better asked as: show me a project from three years ago and tell me whether that client came back. Good quality material is better asked as: name the board, the thickness and the hardware series. Best price is better asked as: here is the specification, quote it itemised.
How to Rank the Shortlist
Once the evidence is in, rank on four things rather than on overall impression.
Specification match: did they quote the scope you sent, unchanged, or substitute their own
Evidence quality: factory located, sample inspected, portfolio specific rather than generic
Written responsibility: measurement, installation, snagging and warranty named and owned
Commercial terms: itemised, with payment stages and exclusions stated
Price belongs inside the fourth line, not above all four. Where two bidders are close on the first three, price decides. Where one is weak on the first three, a lower price is usually the reason.
What You Are Not Trying to Build
Two things are worth avoiding while shortlisting.
The first is a ranked list of the best manufacturers in Delhi. Those lists exist in large numbers and are almost always assembled by somebody with a position in the outcome. Your shortlist should be built from evidence you gathered yourself, against your own scope.
The second is a shortlist based on price alone. Three quotes at different numbers usually describe three different products, and the cheapest is frequently the thinnest board with unnamed hardware. Fix the specification first, then let price decide between bidders who are offering the same thing.
What Reedify Will Show You
Reedify Modulars manufactures its own product and can be checked on each of the five points above. The factory address is published and visits are welcome. The site is measured before quoting, free of charge, and the layout is approved by you in 3D before any panel is cut. Quotes are itemised line by line rather than issued as a lump sum. Installation is by Reedify's own team, and structural cover runs up to 10 years* with terms by component on the warranty and service support page.
The city scope is on the office furniture manufacturer in Delhi page, the twelve product lines on the modular office furniture hub, and the stage-by-stage sequence is published on the site. For buyers who start their search in the furniture market, the parallel checklist is in the guide on buying office furniture in Kirti Nagar.
