Sliding Wardrobe Design for Rooms Where Space Is Tight

A sliding wardrobe runs on a track instead of swinging open — so nothing opens into your room. Reedify designs and manufactures sliding wardrobes in 2, 3 and 4 shutter configurations, with mirror, glass and loft options planned in 3D before production.

The basics

What is a sliding wardrobe?

A sliding wardrobe is a storage unit whose shutters move sideways along a top and bottom track instead of opening outward on hinges. Because no shutter swings into the room, it suits compact bedrooms and spaces where furniture sits close to the wardrobe. Shutters are typically supplied in two, three or four panels.

Why homeowners choose sliding

The deciding factor is almost never looks — it is clearance. A hinged shutter needs open floor in front of it to swing. In a bedroom where the bed, a side table or a study chair sits close to the wardrobe wall, that clearance does not exist. A sliding shutter removes the problem entirely: the panel travels across the face of the wardrobe and never enters the room.

That single change makes a sliding wardrobe the practical answer in most modern flats, where bedrooms are planned tight and every walking inch counts.

The honest trade-off: with sliding shutters, roughly half the wardrobe face is open at any one time — you slide one panel across to reach the other side. It also costs more per running foot than hinged, because the track and roller hardware carry the weight of the whole shutter. Both are worth knowing before you choose, and neither is a reason to avoid sliding if clearance is your constraint.

Why Reedify

One accountable manufacturer,
start to finish.

Reedify Modulars is a manufacturer, not a reseller. Every wardrobe is designed in 3D, manufactured on our own factory floor in Rohtak and installed by our own team — so quality, warranty and factory-direct pricing all stay with one accountable company.

Custom Internal Planning

Every wardrobe is planned around what actually goes inside it — daily wear, long garments, folded stacks, accessories and luggage — before a single panel is cut.

Factory-Made Precision

Panels are cut and edge-banded on machine, not on site. Consistent panel sizing is what keeps shutter gaps even and alignment straight years later.

Premium Hardware

Soft-close hinges, telescopic channels and pull-outs from Hettich and Häfele. A specific brand can be sourced on request.

3D Design Before Production

You see the exact unit in 3D — layout, finish, internal storage — and approve it before anything is manufactured.

Six Factory Finishes

Acrylic, Laminate, PU Paint, Glass Shutters, Painted Gloss and Plywood & HDHMR — compared side by side before you choose.

Built for Indian Homes

Moisture-resistant engineered cores with sealed edge-banding — chosen to hold up to Indian humidity and daily use.

Warranty in Writing

Up to a 10-year structural warranty*, explained clearly against the board, hardware and finish you select.

Factory-made advantage

Cleaner finish, better alignment and less on-site disturbance.

Factory-made modular wardrobes maintain consistent panel sizing, cleaner edge finishing, planned hardware placement and better alignment before the installation team reaches the site — so the final wardrobe looks more refined.

Panels are made after site measurement and design approval, so the wardrobe is planned for the actual room.

Factory edge finishing helps the wardrobe look more refined than rough on-site fabrication.

Hinges, channels, handles, drawers and accessories are selected before production for a controlled layout.

Panels, hardware fitment and finish details are checked before dispatch and final installation.

Smart storage features

Feature-rich wardrobes designed around daily life.

A premium wardrobe is not only about shutter colour. It should solve daily storage problems through better internal planning, smooth hardware, organised accessories and practical compartments.

Soft-Close Drawers and Shutters

Soft-Close Drawers and Shutters

Soft-close channels and hinges make daily use smoother, quieter and more premium. They are useful for wardrobes used every morning and night because shutters and drawers close gently without harsh impact.

Long Hanging and Short Hanging Zones

Long Hanging and Short Hanging Zones

Separate hanging heights can be planned for sarees, coats, shirts, trousers, daily wear and occasional outfits. This prevents wasted vertical space and keeps clothing easier to access.

Pull-Out Trouser Rack

Pull-Out Trouser Rack

A trouser pull-out keeps trousers visible, crease-controlled and easy to select. It is a compact premium accessory for wardrobes where formal wear needs organised storage.

Accessories Tray

Accessories Tray

A dedicated tray can be planned for watches, belts, jewellery, wallets, sunglasses and small essentials. It keeps premium accessories protected and easy to find.

Shoe Pull-Out or Shoe Rack

Shoe Pull-Out or Shoe Rack

Shoe storage can be included inside the wardrobe when the room needs a clean and organised footwear zone. Pull-out shelves or dedicated racks keep pairs visible and separated.

Tie and Belt Organiser

Tie and Belt Organiser

Tie and belt organisers use narrow space efficiently and keep accessories from getting tangled. This is a small feature that adds a high-end daily-use feel.

Internal LED Lighting

Internal LED Lighting

Integrated lighting improves visibility inside deep wardrobes and adds a premium feel to glass or walk-in designs.

Laundry Basket Pull-Out

Laundry Basket Pull-Out

A hidden laundry basket helps separate used clothes without making the bedroom look messy. This feature is practical for master bedrooms and daily-use wardrobes.

Mirror Section

Mirror Section

A mirror can be planned on a shutter, inside a panel or as part of a dressing section. It saves space and helps the wardrobe work as a complete bedroom storage and dressing zone.

Adjustable Shelf System

Adjustable Shelf System

Adjustable shelves allow the wardrobe interior to change as storage needs change. Shelf height can be planned for folded clothes, handbags, boxes, bedding or daily essentials, making the wardrobe more flexible than fixed compartments.

Pull-Down Hanging Lift

Pull-Down Hanging Lift

A pull-down hanging lift uses the upper wardrobe height without making clothes hard to reach. It is useful for tall wardrobes where formal wear, coats or occasional outfits can be stored higher while remaining accessible.

Valet Rod for Daily Outfit Planning

Valet Rod for Daily Outfit Planning

A valet rod provides a temporary hanging point for clothes selected for the next day, freshly ironed outfits or garments taken out while dressing. It makes a modular wardrobe feel more organised and easier to use every day.

Finish options

Six factory finishes, compared before you choose.

We do not offer stone, quartz or veneer shutters — we have standardised on finishes that hold up better to daily use and Indian humidity.

Internal planning

Plan the inside before choosing the shutter.

A sliding wardrobe hides its entire interior behind two or three large panels, so the internal plan matters more here than in any other type — you cannot see everything at once, and badly placed sections become the shelves nobody uses.

Internal storage layout of a sliding wardrobe by Reedify Modulars

Daily-wear zone

Clothes worn most often, at easy hand height, positioned behind the panel you will slide first.

Long hanging

A dedicated full-height section for sarees, coats, gowns and long garments that should not be folded.

Drawers and accessories

Placed where a shutter can be slid clear of them, so a drawer never opens into a closed panel.

Loft storage

Suitcases, bedding and seasonal clothing above the track line.

Mirror placement

Inside a panel or on a shutter face, depending on where you stand to dress.

Neither is better outright — it depends on floor clearance. Sliding suits rooms where furniture sits close to the wardrobe, because no shutter swings out. Hinged suits rooms with space in front, gives full access to the whole interior at once, and costs less per running foot.

It follows the width of the run and how you use it. Two shutters suit compact and secondary bedrooms, three is the most common master-bedroom configuration, and four suits full-wall runs. More shutters mean more panels to slide, but easier access to any one section.

Usually yes, per running foot. The track and roller system has to carry the full weight of each shutter, so the hardware is heavier and more expensive than hinges. Finish, board material and internal storage still affect the final price more than the opening type alone.

Yes. A full-height mirror can be worked into one sliding panel, which is the most space-efficient option in a compact bedroom because you gain a dressing mirror without giving up any floor area. Mirror can also be fitted inside a panel if you prefer a plain exterior.

Yes. A loft section is built above the sliding track as a separate compartment with its own shutters, used for suitcases, bedding and seasonal clothing. It is planned in the same 3D drawing so the track line and loft height are set before manufacturing.

All six Reedify finishes can be used — laminate, acrylic, PU paint, glass, painted gloss, and wood-texture options. Glass and mirror panels are set into slim profiles. Because sliding panels are large and uninterrupted, gloss and glass finishes read especially well on them.

Yes. A study surface, dressing section or full media wall can be planned into the same continuous run so the wall reads as one designed unit rather than separate furniture. The combination is drawn in 3D and approved before production.

The track needs to stay clear of dust and grit, which is the main thing that affects how smoothly a shutter runs. Beyond occasional cleaning of the track channel, branded roller systems are built to run for years without adjustment.
